A&E Healthcare Services is seeking dedicated Mobile Outreach Volunteers to join our compassionate, multi-disciplinary team. In this role, you will play a vital part in providing low-barrier, stigma-free support to individuals in Baltimore City navigating mental health challenges and substance use. By offering direct guidance, staging essential resources, and welcoming community members, you will actively foster a safe space focused on recovery, dignity, and care.

Key Responsibilities & Activities

Direct Participant Support & Engagement

  • Warm Welcome: Serve as the friendly face of the mobile unit, warmly greeting participants as they arrive and creating an immediate sense of safety and respect.
  • Guidance & Coaching: Provide individualized, ongoing support, coaching, and positive reinforcement to community members.
  • Resource Connection: Help participants navigate and utilize personal and community resources, assisting in building strong formal and informal support networks.
  • Community Advocacy: Coordinate community information sessions and actively promote AEHS services, including helping with attendee tracking and educational materials.

Operational & Supply Chain Support

  • Trauma Kit Assembly: Build and assemble life-saving trauma and harm reduction kits to be distributed directly to community members in need.
  • Inventory Control: Count, track, and manage supply inventory to ensure the mobile unit is always fully stocked and prepared for high-traffic outreach shifts.
  • Administrative Documentation: Utilize Electronic Medical Record (EMR/EHR) software and Microsoft Office applications to keep clear, detailed logs of outreach materials and participant interactions.

Agency Collaboration & Professionalism

  • Team Integration: Participate in staff training, attend agency meetings, and engage in case conferences or group supervision.
  • Ethical Standards: Maintain strict participant confidentiality and uphold the highest professional standards, client rights policies, and the AEHS Code of Ethics.

What You Bring (Qualifications)

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Community Connection: A strong familiarity with the Baltimore City landscape and its unique communities.
  • Knowledge & Empathy: A sound, compassionate understanding of addiction, recovery, mental health challenges, and treatment pathways.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and the ability/readiness to document work within an electronic medical record system.
  • Core Strengths: Strong verbal and written communication skills, sharp attention to detail, proactive problem-solving, and solid time management.
  • Mindset: An open, positive, and non-judgmental approach to interacting with participants, staff, and community visitors alike.
